Moving or Shrinking Yarns
These yarns will move, twist or shrink in the finishing process causing the fabric to collapse and, in some cases, become elastic. We carry two types: overtwisted or crepe yarns, and elastic yarn-- fiber plyed with polyurethane ( commercial names: elite', elastane, Lycra®). Technological innovations have made elastic yarns very strong and able to retain their elastic properties for a very long time. In some cases, the draw in is visible while weaving, in other cases, the active yarns will not move until the finishing process. Elasticity and shrinkage varies therefore, sampling is recommended.
