Kumihimo is an ancient Japanese braiding technique dating back to the fifth century. It is most commonly associated with samurai armors and swords, as well as women’s kimono (obijime). Contemporary applications range from the traditional to new applications such as jewelry, garments and accessories. The items sold in this section are produced in Japan where the yarns are cut in predetermined lengths and bundled in consistent quantities.
