• 2012 Fashion Trends from Italy

    • We have recently returned from our annual trip to Italy where we attend a major yarn show and visit with our mills.  Some very interesting trends are emerging: lots of textures and strong accent colors: turquoise, orange, curry and cherry red.  These are combined with many muted colors: charcoal, gray, beige, etc. We also saw lots of texture added on top of the fabrics, and very organic forms
    • And of course, lots of sparkles.  Metallics and metallic blends are hot across the board
    • We are adding all sorts of new Italian yarns reflecting these trends.  So, check this site often in the next few months.  Some of the items we are adding to reflect accent color trends:
      • Beautiful fine linen in interesting classic and bright colors
      • Stainless steel cotton (yarn is in route from Italy and not available yet)
      • Beautiful European Hemp in natural
      • An interesting cotton/metallic blend called Stardust
    • We are adding many interesting fancy yarns mostly from Italy but a few from Japan.  These yarns can be mixed with yarns you may have in your stash or can be used as accents.  Just let your creativity explore the possibilities
  • New embellishments
    • We also saw lots of embellishments added to knitted and woven garments.  So, we decided to bring back a few interesting items from Italy:
  • Do not forget to also experiment with out our fine steel mesh
    • Great for surface embellishments or to incorporate into wearables or sculptural work.  Currently available in one size only, but we are exploring the feasibility of wider cuts.
    • It can be embossed, folded, colored
